Supporting Friends and Family
As a parent, guardian, carer or friend, you play a crucial role in helping your friends and family to make decisions about their future career, with so many options, you may find it can be daunting choosing the right one. So, being able to understand all career options can allow you to support in making an informed decision about their next steps.
There are so many different opportunities and options to take when leaving full-time education or deciding to make a change to your career path, whether that be through an apprenticeship or graduate programme. Many people will seek advice from family and friends, who will provide guidance based on their own career journey and decisions.
Education provider’s will also support their students to look at a variety of different options for their future careers. Attending careers fairs or webinars, will help to understand more about a particular career route, employer or sector. It’s also a great idea to follow potential future employers or education providers on social media sites, as they will post lots of up to date updates about the culture and opportunities available.

The Amazing Apprenticeships website which provides lots of resources and tackles misconceptions associated with apprenticeships.
The National Careers Service website has lots of information about Graduate schemes and useful hints and tips to apply for one.
You can also visit the Tasty Careers website which will simplify learning and training options available for young people in the food and drink industry. Whether you need to understand apprenticeships, look at real life case studies, help someone you know find a job or are just looking for a little inspiration.
Youth Employment UK are experts on youth employment and unemployment. Helping to connect young people to opportunities, provide skills and helpful insights to ensure they are supported throughout their journey.
Our Programmes
Greencore’s Early Careers programmes are designed to give young people, or those starting out in their career journey, the opportunity to grow, further their personal development and build a network of support within one of the UK’s a leading manufacturers of convenience food.
They enable us to grow the next generation of talent within our organisation and help them gain experience and exposure to opportunities that will help them to work towards their long-term career goals.
Development
All our Early Careers programmes include placements in a real job, ensuring that colleagues on the programme get exposure to tasks and responsibilities that are meaningful, and help them to grow and progress both personally and professionally.
In addition, each programme has a dedicated development plan, that may include education, role rotations and mentoring. As well as the support and guidance of a broad network of colleagues, managers and peers.
Early Careers Week
Once successful and a place has been confirmed on our apprenticeship or graduate programme, Early Careers colleagues will attend an induction week called ‘Early Careers Week.’
It is an opportunity to bring all our Early Careers colleagues together and help them settle in by learning and understanding the business, introduction to their programmes and building relationships.
Completing Programme
Once the programme has successfully been completed, each Early Careers colleague will be supported to transition into an end point role within the business and become part of our Alumni community.
Safeguarding
The safety and well-being of all colleagues at Greencore is our top priority. We believe safeguarding is a shared accountability and is all our responsibility to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
Our safeguarding policy and additional materials provide guidelines and best practices, with Designated Safeguarding Leads at every site to ensure everyone is safe and feels comfortable recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
